Borussia Monchengladbach news: Who will replace Gerardo Seoane at BORUSSIA-PARK?

Gerardo Seoane was sacked by Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this week, following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Werder Bremen.

The 46-year-old is the second manager to be dismissed in the Bundesliga this season, following Erik ten Hag’s shock departure from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Swiss manager took over at BORUSSIA-PARK in 2023 from Daniel Farke, who is now in charge of Premier League outfit Leeds United.

Since then, Seoane managed 78 games at Die Fohlen, with an average of 1.22 points per game.

Recent reports have speculated that Seoane had lost the Monchengladbach dressing room, potentially another reason behind his departure.

Many players reportedly accused their former boss of a lack of communication and decision-making.

It was clear that Seoane had favourites who would play week in week out, which showed his lack of confidence in the players at his disposal.

After their thrashing against Bremen, Seoane’s 832-day reign came to an end, with Eugen Polanski now at the helm as caretaker manager.

But who are the favourites to take over Borussia Monchengladbach permanently?

Who are the new candidates?

According to German outlet Kicker, several candidates have been shortlisted to replace Seoane.

After departing from Hoffenheim last term, Pellegrino Matarazzo is the favourite to take over at Die Fohlen.

The 47-year-old has bags of experience both playing and coaching in Germany, with previous stints at Nurnburg and Stuttgart.

Other candidates include Urs Fischer, formerly of Union Berlin, in 2023.

Former Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis is another name mentioned, having left Mexican side Monterrey after 43 matches in charge.

The final name rumoured for the job is former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic, whose tactics would suit Monchengladbach best.

Die Fohlen will need to act quickly with their next fixture against Bayer Leverkusen right around the corner.
