Man Utd news: Matheus Cunha set to link up with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s summer rebuild plans are in full swing, with a huge overhaul expected at Old Trafford ahead of next season.

The Red Devils' campaign has been one to forget, as the club sits 14th in the Premier League table.

However, United could rescue their season through the Europa League, with Champions League qualification on the line if they win the competition.

Ruben Amorim’s men face a tough Athletic Club side in the semi-finals.

Champions League football would go a long way in attracting top talent to the red side of Manchester in the summer, with the club already working on high-profile deals.

Manchester United edge towards Matheus Cunha

Manchester United are nearing an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Matheus Cunha, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian was spotted chatting with United boss Amorim in the tunnel at half time during Wolves’ 1-0 win at Old Trafford last week.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are discussing personal terms with Cunha, who has a release clause of £62.5million.

Several Premier League sides have shown interest in the 25-year-old, but Man United currently appear to be leading the race.

Frontline rebuild

With Manchester United’s blank-firing attack a huge concern for Amorim, plenty of incomings and outgoings can be expected in the upcoming transfer window.

Centre-forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund have scored just six Premier League goals between them this season, prompting questions to be asked of the duo.

Additionally, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony have all been shipped out on loan following underwhelming performances this season, with the trio expected to leave Manchester this summer.

This would leave a huge gap in the Red Devils’ front line, with Eberechi Eze and Liam Delap both also linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

It is certainly going to be a busy transfer window for Man United, but come August, their front three could be completely transformed.
