Arsenal news: Bukayo Saka agrees new contract at the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal look set to finish second in the Premier League for the third successive season as Liverpool were officially crowned champions after a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Although it’s not all doom and gloom in North London, with the Gunners ready to host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.
As focus remains solely on Arsenal’s European conquest, Mikel Arteta has quietly been working on a huge deal off the pitch.
Bukayo Saka to sign new Arsenal contract
Hale End graduate Bukayo Saka has reportedly reached an agreement for a new contract with the Gunners, as per TNATS via Patreon.
Formalities still need to be ironed out, but all major points have been agreed upon.
Arsenal have been working on a new deal for the 23-year-old for some time.
How important is Bukayo Saka to Arsenal?
Despite running out as 5-1 winners, Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace in December was where their title charge fell apart.
Saka, who up to that point in the season had 16 goal contributions, was taken off after just 24 minutes had been played at Selhurst Park with a hamstring injury.
The North Londoners dropped a staggering 11 points in the three months they were without their main man, which ultimately cost them the title.
The Englishman is far and away Arsenal’s most important player, so tying him down to a new deal will be integral to the club’s future success.
