Newcastle Utd news: Eddie Howe adopts ‘different mindset’ as Magpies gear up for key summer window
Eddie Howe has underlined the importance of this summer’s transfer window for Newcastle United, revealing that both he and the club are approaching it with “a totally different mindset” compared to previous seasons.
The Magpies appear poised for another Champions League campaign, but the English manager has emphasised the need for his squad to be fully prepared for what would be their second European outing in three years.
Newcastle are expected to target two or three marquee signings this summer, with fans already speculating over potential arrivals.
Forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Liam Delap have attracted attention from the North East side.
Howe highlights mindset shift ahead of crucial summer window
Speaking in his press conference this morning, the 47-year-old reflected on how Newcastle’s approach to the upcoming transfer window marks a significant shift from last summer’s strategy:
“The difference in mentality, really, for where we were, knowing that we, this time last year, we were in a selling position, we needed to raise revenue,” he said.
“And that's a totally different mindset to being in the one that we are now, with a different mindset and different possibilities.
“It is a big summer for us because every transfer window is big.
“You want to go, preferably, into the new season with a stronger squad than the one that you entered with, and that's always the challenge.”

Newcastle stand firm on Isak amid growing transfer speculation
Alexander Isak has dominated headlines amid speculation over his future and whether he’ll remain on Tyneside next season.
The Swedish international has enjoyed a standout campaign, netting 23 Premier League goals to sit second in the Golden Boot race.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move, but Newcastle remain firm on their £150 million valuation and are determined to keep hold of their leading marksman.
Howe had this to say on his star striker: “Alex has got three years left on his deal.
“All contract situations with players are discussed, but they're more delicately poised than people would naturally think from the outside.
“There's never one straight answer; Alex is under contract, we love him to bits.
“We want him to stay and keep enjoying his football like he has done and continue to score goals for many years for Newcastle – that's my plan.”
