Arsenal news: Gunners close to Martin Zubimendi deal as Benjamin Sesko linked with Saudi Pro League

Arsenal are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi from LaLiga side Real Sociedad.

The Gunners are looking to heavily invest in their squad this summer following another trophyless campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s men finished as Premier League runners-up for the third successive year this season.

Martin Zubimendi to join Arsenal

Martin Zubimendi snubbed a move to Liverpool last summer.

Despite rumours that Real Madrid had hijacked the deal, Zubimendi is set to sign for Arsenal in a deal worth £51million.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Gunners consider the move as ‘done and signed’.

The Spaniard is expected to report to the Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney at the start of pre-season.

The North Londoners have prioritised the signing of a midfielder this summer following Jorginho’s departure, and with Thomas Partey’s future up in the air.

Talks continue for Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal also remain keen to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season.

However, the Slovenian has reportedly been approached by several Saudi Pro League clubs, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

While it is believed that the 22-year-old would like to stay in Europe, interest from Saudi Arabia certainly puts pressure on Andrea Berta to wrap up a deal sooner rather than later.

Although, as per Florian Plettenberg, talks between the Gunners and Sesko remain ‘very positive’.

The next round of negotiations between Arsenal and Leipzig have already been scheduled, with Arteta eager to land the centre-forward.

The Bundesliga outfit have set a price tag between £70-85million for Sesko.
