Bayer Leverkusen news: Ernest Poku joins Erik ten Hag’s side as Germans move for Ezequiel Fernandez

Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his Bayer Leverkusen side for the upcoming Bundesliga season.

The Dutchman has been keen to bring in a winger all summer, and after missing out on several key targets, he finally has his man.

Erenest Poku signs for Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen have announced the signing of Ernest Poku from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract valid until 2030, in a deal worth £10million.

The Dutch forward has shone for AZ ever since breaking into the first team two years ago, playing 79 times and accomplishing 20 goal contributions.

Now in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, Poku has big shoes to fill following Jeremie Fimpong’s departure to Liverpool.

Primarily a winger, Poku will likely play down the right, but can play on the left or through the middle, which is standard for most attackers these days.

Bayer Leverkusen move for Ezequiel Fernandez

Following Granit Xhaka’s move back to the Premier League with Sunderland, a massive hole has been left in the Leverkusen midfield.

At the top of ten Hag’s radar is Al-Qadsiah midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez.

The 23-year-old has shown his ability to play anywhere in midfield during his time in Saudi Arabia and Argentina.

This would make the Argentine the perfect replacement for Xhaka, who is known for his box-to-box play style.

Fernandez’s passing range is one of his key attributes, finding many assists throughout his career.
