Blackburn Rovers news: Duo complete Derby County move while Valerian Ismael looks for Tyrhys Dolan replacement

There have been several high-profile departures at Blackburn Rovers this summer, with Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth the latest to leave for John Eustace’s Derby County.

Youngsters Dilan Markanday, Jake Vale and Zak Gilsenan were also released by Rovers.

The main man to keep this summer was Tyrhys Dolan, but as July struck, so did the forward’s contract.

Now the Lancashire club are in a situation to replace the 23-year-old with a player of the same calibre.

Here, Transfer News Blitz writer Thomas Robinson has looked at who Blackburn could bring in, and more.

Why did Andreas Weimann pick Derby County over Blackburn Rovers?

Andreas Weimann has resigned for Derby County.

After giving Rovers fans a brilliant moment with a stunning strike against local rivals Burnley, the 33-year-old has decided to move on after a single season at Ewood Park.

The Austrian will reunite with Eustace at Pride Park, the man who originally brought him to Blackburn.

Upon signing for the Rams, Weimann was asked why he chose Derby over the Blue and Whites.

He said: “There were a few factors. One was the manager, I loved working with him.

“Another was family. Blackburn was quite far from where I lived, my kids only managed to attend two games last season.”

Why did Danny Batth follow his teammate?

A rock at the back for Blackburn last term, the 34-year-old also departed Lancashire after only one year at the club.

Similarly to Weimann, the defender also penned a one-year deal at Derby.

After signing for the Rams, Batth explained it was an offer he could not turn down.

He said: “It was a great opportunity for me to come and help the team and help the club.

“The foundations were set last year, and the club are looking to move forward, and I want to be a big part of that.”

The Tyrhys Dolan situation

Tyrhys Dolan celebrates a goal for Blackburn Rovers.

According to reports, throughout June, Blackburn had approached Dolan several times, however, the forward turned them all down in search of new pastures.

The Englishman is understood to be open to a move abroad following the end of his Rovers’ contract.

Valued at around £7million, Dolan is a huge loss for Blackburn, especially for free.

Who could replace Tyrhys Dolan?

Blackburn need to find a player with quick feet and creativity to help carry out Ismael’s tactics.

Alongside this, the North West club should move a younger player who they could potentially improve and sell on for profit.

Having spent last season out on loan at Hibernian, Sunderland’s Nectarios Triantis would be a great addition either on loan or permanently.

The Australian bagged an impressive eight goal contributions in the Scottish Premiership last term.

Possibly available for around £1million, the 22-year-old could be a bargain for the Blue and Whites.

Overseas in Saudi Arabia, Marwan Al-Sahafi could also be a good option to replace Dolan.

Quick and creative, the 21-year-old had six goal involvements last season while on loan at Belgian side Beerschot from Al-Ittihad.

Blackburn could also make a move for Casper Terho, who struggled for minutes in both Belgium and Germany last campaign.

After just nine appearances for Union SG, the Finnish forward was sent on loan to Paderborn, where he played 11 times.
