Blackburn Rovers news: Adam Forshaw and Sidnei Tavares complete moves to Ewood Park

Blackburn Rovers have added more new personnel at Ewood Park over the last week.

Following Dion De Neve’s switch to the Lancashire club earlier this month, Rovers have confirmed the signing of Sidnei Tavares.

On the same day, Blackburn also announced the re-signing of Adam Forshaw, who initially joined the club on a half-season deal in January.

Sidnei Tavares signs for Blackburn Rovers

Sidnei Tavares puts in a hard tackle.

The Portuguese midfielder became Blackburn’s second signing of the summer in a deal worth £2million from Portuguese outfit Moreirense.

Formerly of Leicester City, the 23-year-old operated in several midfield roles across 33 appearances in the Liga Portugal, helping his former side to a mid-table finish.

Tavares is a solid signing in midfield for Rovers and would be a great replacement if club captain Lewis Travis leaves this summer.

Adam Forshaw returns to Ewood Park

Valerian Ismael’s biggest issue last season was depth, as the club entered an injury crisis around the time of the Frenchman’s arrival.

Therefore, Blackburn have made the move to re-sign Forshaw for another season to help with the depth issues in midfield.

Sondre Tronstad’s injury last season left a huge hole to fill in the middle of the park, but once Forshaw arrived in January, that gap tightened up.

The 33-year-old was a crucial piece to Ismael’s puzzle last season, and re-signing him will be massive for the upcoming Championship season.

Lewis Travis future still uncertain

Lewis Travis celebrates a goal against Middlesbrough.

After a decade of service to the Blue and Whites, Travis’ future is still unconfirmed.

As it stands, the midfielder, whose contract is set to run out next summer, has caught the eye of multiple Championship sides, including Birmingham City, Coventry, Derby County and Wrexham.

The 27-year-old has been a standout performer at Ewood Park across 236 appearances for Rovers.

Tyrhys Dolan expected to depart Ewood Park

Could Tyrhys Dolan be on the move this summer?

Another concern for Blackburn supporters is the future of winger Tyrhys Dolan.

The 23-year-old’s contract expires at the end of June, and with several Championship clubs keen, a move away seems imminent.

After an impressive 13 goal contributions in 44 Championship appearances last term, the forward is now reportedly ready to take the next step in his career.

Former Blackburn boss John Eustace is understood to be keen on bringing Dolan to Derby.
