Bayern Munich analysis: Who could Vincent Kompany replace Leroy Sane with?
Following Leroy Sane’s move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, Bayern Munich have a huge task on their hands to replace the German.
The 29-year-old signed a three-year deal with Okan Buruk’s side, but who will Bayern opt to bring in?
Here, Transfer News Blitz writer Thomas Robinson has compiled a list of several players who could be on their way to the Allianz Arena this summer.
What type of player are Bayern Munich looking for?
Bayern need to find someone with a similar, if not identical, profile to Sane.
Vincent Kompany’s men are known for their German dominance and look to dominate opponents in their own half.
The Bavarians utilise their wide players to break into the penalty area and feed their main man, Harry Kane.
Therefore, the Bundesliga champions will be in the market for a pacey, versatile and creative winger to fill Sane’s place.
Bradley Barcola, Paris Saint-Germain
Deadly duo, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola.
First up is Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola.
Tipped to be ‘the next Kylian Mbappe, the Frenchman has been pushed aside by the brilliance of Desire Doue.
The 22-year-old still has plenty of time left, and a move to the Bundesliga could help elevate his game.
PSG play a similar style of football to Kompany’s Bayern, meaning Barcola could transition seamlessly into the Belgian’s side.
With 25 goal involvements in Ligue 1 last season, the French international would be the perfect replacement for Sane.
Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal
Potentially a cheaper option, Gabriel Martinelli has shown his fast footwork and creativity during his time at Arsenal.
With 16 goal contributions in all competitions last season, the Brazilian helped Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League.
While the 24-year-old is not coming off the back of one of his best campaigns, Martinelli still has plenty of room to keep improving.
Playing in a different country with a different style of football may help the forward do just that.
Luis Diaz, Liverpool
Luis Diaz was in fine form for Liverpool last season.
Coming off the back of Liverpool’s Premier League triumph. Luis Diaz has garnered interest from around Europe.
The 28-year-old is a huge threat inside the penalty area, bagging 20 goal involvements last term.
However, due to Mohamed Salah’s red-hot form, the Colombian has only operated on one flank, which could put Bayern off, who would ideally move for a versatile player.
Jamie Gittens, Chelsea
Bayern have a history of signing players from their Bundesliga rivals, especially Borussia Dortmund.
Mats Hummels, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski are a few who have made the switch, and now Jamie Gittens could be added to that list.
However, a move for the Englishman could prove tricky, with Premier League side Chelsea reportedly close to a deal with Dortmund.
The 20-year-old would be a superb addition to Bayern, and with the likes of Harry Kane on the books at the Allianz Arena, Gittens could swiftly develop into one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.
