Blackburn Rovers news: Former Arsenal youngster Ryan Alebiosu signs for Rovers as Joe Rankin-Costello future unclear

Joe Rankin-Costello’s departure will leave a hole at the full-back spot in Valerian Ismael’s squad.

After a decade of service to the Blue and Whites, it appears the defender’s time at the club is coming to an end.

Charlton Athletic are reportedly keen on signing the versatile wing-back as they continue to create a squad fit for Championship survival..

With Callum Brittain also a wanted man in the Championship, it was clear Rovers had to bring in someone to cover that right flank.

Ryan Alebiosu signs for Blackburn Rovers

Valerian Ismael with Blackburn new boy Ryan Alebiosu.

Ryan Alebiosu has returned to England in a move that has flown under the radar.

After a successful loan spell last season with St. Mirren, the former Arsenal youth graduate has made the move to the Blue and Whites from KV Kortrijk, following Rovers’ first summer signing Dion De Neve

The full-back started 27 times across spells in Belgium and Scotland last season, accomplishing four assists.

The 23-year-old would slot straight into Ismael’s squad as he can operate as a right-sided wing-back to help drive the team forward when attacking.

While at St. Mirren, the defender showcased his strength and speed, which makes him a fantastic addition up and down the pitch.

Moussa Baradji transfer talks stall

Blackburn were close to a double signing announcement yesterday, however, talks with French midfielder Moussa Baradji have stalled.

Reports confirm that discussions are still ongoing with the Yverdon midfielder, but it may drag out to the weekend.

The 24-year-old can operate anywhere in the middle of the pitch, ranging from attacking midfielder to defensive midfielder.

With four goals and three assists in the Swiss second division for Yverdon last term, Baradji made 29 appearances last season.

Blackburn are keen to strengthen their midfield further, especially with Lewis Travis a wanted man and John Buckley’s future unknown.
