Man Utd news: Who will be Manchester United’s starting striker? Benjamin Sesko set to sign for Red Devils

Manchester United are close to completing a deal to sign RB Leipzig centre forward Benjamin Sesko.

With the additions of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Ruben Amorim has already majorly overhauled his frontline.

In addition to the attacking duo, United have brought in Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon this summer, although his involvement with the senior squad is still unknown.

There have also been plenty of departures from Old Trafford, with Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan at Barcelona and Alejandro Garnacho Chelsea-bound.

Manchester United to sign Benjamin Sesko

RB Leipzig are set to lose Xavi Simons and Benjamin Sesko this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Sesko from RB Leipzig.

The Red Devils are set to pay a total package of €85million for the Slovenian forward, broken down into a guaranteed €76.5million fee and €8.5million in easily achievable add-ons.

The 22-year-old will put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the North West club, valid until 2030.

United have plans to unveil Sesko on Saturday, August 9, when Amorim’s men host Italian side Fiorentina in a pre-season friendly.

Rasmus Hojlund future uncertain

Man United are set for showdown talks with current frontman Rasmus Hojlund to discuss his future, as per Romano.

Looking at the Red Devils’ summer signings, the out-of-favour centre forward will likely play a lot less minutes this season.

Serie A giants AC Milan are understood to be monitoring the situation and are interested in taking the Dane on loan.

However, the 22-year-old is reportedly keen to stay at the club to fight for his place, and is not thought to be scared by the increased competition.

How will Manchester United line up?

Manchester United duo Bryan Mbeumo and Mathues Cunha.

Manchester United welcome rivals Arsenal to Old Trafford for their opening Premier League fixture on August 17, but how will Amorim’s front line shape up?

The United boss will likely deploy his trademark 3-4-3 formation against the Gunners, with new boys Cunha and Mbeumo to start.

With just over a week to go, the match may come too soon for Sesko to start, which would mean Cunha is deployed down the middle.

Mbeumo and captain Bruno Fernandes could play on either side of the Brazilian, while Sesko is likely to make an appearance off the bench.
