Arsenal news: Jakub Kiwior future uncertain as Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan lurk

Arsenal fought back from two goals down to claim a well-earned point against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Gunners face Newcastle United and Southampton in their last two Premier League matches, having confirmed another trophyless campaign following their Champions League exit last week.

Mikel Arteta’s squad has been hit by major injuries this season, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz missing extended periods of the season.

Down to their bare bones at times, Arsenal have been forced to rely on their squad players.

Jakub Kiwior is one of those called upon and has certainly not disappointed at the heart of the North Londoners’ defence.

Jakub Kiwior attracting Serie A interest.

With Gabriel sidelined since April with a hamstring injury, Kiwior has more than stepped up to the plate.

However, it is no secret that the 25-year-old is simply keeping the Brazilian’s spot warm, with Gabriel largely considered the Gunners’ best defender.

The Polish centre-half has struggled to nail down regular game time at the Emirates Stadium since moving to N5 in January 2023, but played a starring role as Arsenal knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League this season.

While Kiwior has certainly shown his worth over the last six weeks, the Polish international is keen to play frequent football and could leave North London in search of it.

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan have the Pole on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are understood to be open to a deal in hopes of boosting their own spending money.

An unsung hero

It is safe to say that Kiwior has underwhelmed the Arsenal faithful since his £20million from Spezia two-and-a-half years ago.

Often utilised off the bench and out of position, Arteta has primarily deployed the Polish defender as a squad player.

That is no surprise, especially with the formidable partnership that Gabriel and William Saliba have formed.

However, in his recent extended run in the starting lineup alongside Saliba, Kiwior has often looked the more assured of the two.

The Frenchman was at fault for Real Madrid’s consolation goal at the Santiago Bernabéu and has not looked as assured when pressured at the back.

Whereas Kiwior has not really put much of a foot wrong.

It is no shock that the Pole is keen for regular minutes, and if the Gunners can recoup the fee they paid for him, a move could benefit all parties.
