Barcelona news: Hansi Flick set to extend contract as Barça move within two points of LaLiga title
Barcelona are on the cusp of becoming LaLiga champions as Hansi Flick looks set to extend his contract in Catalonia.
The Spanish titans beat Real Madrid 4-3 on Sunday to move within just two points of their 28th league title.
Having already won the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España earlier in the season, Barça are closing in on a superb domestic treble.
Hansi Flick agrees new Barcelona deal
Following an incredible maiden campaign in Spain, which saw Barcelona reach the Champions League semi-finals, Flick is set to put pen to paper on a new deal.
The German has verbally agreed on a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2027.
Pini Xahavi, Flick’s agent, has been on site in Barcelona to finalise the deal, with an official announcement expected before the end of the month.
Success follows Hansi Flick
It is not just in Spain where the 60-year-old has been successful.
Flick won seven trophies during a two-year stint at Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, including the Champions League in 2020, when the German led the Bavarians to a famous 8-2 victory over his current club in the quarter-finals.
The Barça boss was also assistant coach to Joachim Löw during the 2014 World Cup, in which Germany won the competiton for the fourth time.
With Flick set to commit his future to Barcelona, a new era of Catalonian dominance could well be upon us.
