Bayer Leverkusen news: Out-of-favour Raheem Sterling on Erik ten Hag’s radar

Erik ten Hag is on a mission to rebuild Bayer Leverkusen after several first-team stars have left the BayArena this summer.

Jonathan Tah joined Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, as exits for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz to Liverpool followed.

Now it seems as though Granit Xhaka could also be set to leave the club.

Leverkusen are still keen to bring in a replacement for Frimpong, with Die Werkself reportedly keen on Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling.

Bayer Leverkusen continue search for winger

Raheem Sterling disappointed at Arsenal last season.

Johan Bakayoko was on Leverkusen’s radar since the start of the summer, but the Belgian has ultimately opted to sign for RB Leipzig.

Now, Bayer Leverkusen have shifted their focus elsewhere and are reportedly keen on out-of-favour Blue, Sterling.

The former England international has proven to be a top-quality player throughout his career, and has one so in the Premier League, Europe’s top division.

Having turned out for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, Sterling has had a stellar career, but after several slumped seasons, he could be open to a move abroad.

Able to operate on either flank, the 30-year-old can use his pace and dribbling ability to break through the final third.

Chelsea will certainly be keen to get the forward off the books, so Leverkusen could be able to pick him up for a relatively cheap price.
