Borussia Monchengladbach news: Alassane Plea leaves Die Fohlen as Tyler Meiser signs from Borussia Dortmund
Several Borussia Monchengladbach players have been rumoured to depart this summer, but Alassane Plea has officially left the club.
Rocco Reitz, Tim Kleindienst and Luca Netz have all been linked with moves away since the window opened, but Gerardo Seoane will now need to bring in a new centre-forward.
Dutch side PSV Eindhoven swooped in and stole the Frenchman, confirming Gladbach’s second departure of the window following Stefan Lainer’s move to RB Salzburg.
Alassane Plea’s departure
The French forward has completed a move to PSV for a fee of around £3million.
After 236 appearances for Die Fohlen, the versatile Frenchman has left the club on a bargain price for PSV.
68 goals and 53 assists during his seven-year stint in West Germany show that Plea is imperceptible in the final third.
Throughout his time at Gladbach, the 32-year-old has been utilised through the middle as an attacking midfielder and striker, or on either wing.
Plea’s versatility makes him brilliant for any team, as he could cover many positions if injuries or suspensions occurred.
Seoane needs to replace the Frenchman before the start of the season, as a critical hole will be left in the Gladbach front line.

Who should replace Plea?
Looking at where Plea has been deployed in the past, an easy option for Seoane would be to give more game time to Robin Hack on the left and Kevin Stoger in the middle.
The Gladbach duo have proven that, when fit, they can start games, but will need even more cover to help them through the upcoming Bundesliga campaign.
Paul Wanner would be a good signing for Gladbach, especially as the German could be available on loan for the season from Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old had a breakthrough season with Heidenheim last term, playing 41 times and collecting 10 goal contributions.
Wanner also shone for Germany during the U21 Euros, in which Antonio Di Salvo’s side finished as runners-up to England.
The Austrian might be a short-term replacement for Plea, but would help Gladbach to fight for European spaces next season.

The German cemented his place in Dortmund’s U19 side last season, playing 25 times.
