Bayern Munich news: Vincent Kompany eyes move for Liverpool star Luis Diaz after Jamal Musiala injury

Following Jamal Musiala’s injury against Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup, Bayern are keen to bring in some cover.

The 22-year-old suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle after a clash with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

At the top of Vincent Kompany’s list is Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who is reportedly set to leave Anfield this summer.

The Belgian is also considering a move for former Juventus loanee Renato Veiga.

Why Luis Diaz?

Luis Diaz in action for Liverpool.

Bayern have been looking for a creative and quick winger all summer, and Diaz has popped in and out of conversation.

Musiala’s injury was terrifying, and it will see the German international out of action for at least four months.

Often deployed out on the left, the Bavarians will need to bring in someone of high quality to fill his place.

Enter Liverpool’s Diaz.

The 28-year-old will cost Bayern roughly £70million, and will bring everything they need out wide.

Creative and pacy, the Colombian has proven that he can do it at the very top level during his time on Merseyside.

Diaz achieved an impressive 25 goal involvements in 50 appearances last season for the Reds, and would certainly tear up the Bundesliga with Bayern.

Bayern Munich also keen on Renato Veiga

Renato Veiga was on loan at Juventus last term.

Something Kompany loves in his team is versatility.

The 39-year-old believes that having many players able to cover a range of positions is crucial to a title-winning season.

With that in mind, Chelsea’s Veiga fits the exact profile the Bayern boss wants.

Able to operate as a centre-half, left-back or central midfielder, and possibly available for just £25million, the 21-year-old would be a steal for Die Roten.

Similar to Joshua Kimmich, Kompany could utilise Veiga either in the middle or as a full-back, and with Premier League experience at Chelsea, he could easily adapt to Bayern’s tactics at the top level.

The Portuguese international is not known for goals or assists, but his determination and versatility make him a fantastic choice for Kompany this window.
