Real Madrid news: Saudi Pro League club line up world-record bid for Vinicius Jr
Vinicius Jr has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
The Brazilian star has been in contract renewal talks with Real Madrid for some time, but no deal has yet been formalised.
Here, Transfer News Blitz writer Mitarth Tewari rounds up the latest on the potential deal.
World-record bid
Could Neymar Jr’s 2017 move soon be bested?
It was assumed that fellow Brazilian Rodrygo would be the one to depart Los Blancos this summer.
However, recent rumours indicate that it may be Vinicius Jr on the way out.
The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to stay at La Casa Blanca, but contract talks that started in February have not yet materialised.
The Saudi chiefs are looking to splash big on the Brazilian with a world-record transfer bid of £302million ready.
This fee is over £100million more than Neymar Jr’s move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
The nine-figure contract
A transfer figure that high will need to be matched with a contract of similar value.
It is understood that the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia is ready to offer Vinicius Jr a massive five-year contract worth around £864million.
Al-Ahli would be the club to land the Real Madrid forward, with other big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema scattered across the league.
Realistic transfer?

The saga of Saudi Arabia’s interest in Vinicius Jr has been an ongoing story for almost a year.
It seems to be a question of when the star would make his way to the Middle East rather than if.
Although with much of the transfer window still remaining, a renewal agreement between the Brazilian and Real Madrid seems more likely.
Still, Saudi Arabian officials remain keen and are waiting for the right moment, keeping the current hesitation in mind.
It is also worth noting that the player being at the still young age of 25 is a huge factor.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up’s salary demands are reported to be deemed ‘too high’ by Los Blancos.
It is yet to be seen whether this dream move for the Saudi Pro League will happen, but the transfer window is definitely heating up at the Santiago Bernabeu.
