Blackburn Rovers news: Lewis Miller and Axel Henriksson join ahead of EFL Championship season
Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Lewis Miller and Axel Henriksson ahead of their Championship opener.
Valerian Ismael’s side face West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on August 9.
Now all that is left is for Rovers to reinforce their right flank this summer.
Lewis Miller joins Blackburn Rovers
Lewis Miller in action for Australia.
Following Callum Brittain’s departure to Middlesbrough, Australian international Miller put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Rovers paid £860,000 for the 24-year-old from Scottish outfit Hibernian.
The Aussie played 39 times last season, featuring at right-back, centre-back and right midfield, which makes him a highly versatile option.
From right-back, Miller proved to be a valuable asset in the final third, finding the back of the net three times and setting up two goals.
Upon his arrival at Rovers, the defender shared his excitement.
He said: “It’s a massive club with a great history and I’m just buzzing to be here.
“I’m super energetic, passionate, maybe a little bit aggressive, and I will give absolutely everything to get three points.”
Blackburn Rovers sign Axel Henriksson
Axel Henriksson unveiled as a new Blackburn Rovers player.
Following plans to sign competition for Todd Cantwell, Blackburn considered two players.
Rovers were reportedly keen on former England international Dele Alli, who has been left out of Como’s plans.
However, the Lancashire club instead opted to sign Henriksson from Swedish side GAIS for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old operated in multiple midfield roles last term, where he featured 15 times.
What will Blackburn Rovers focus on now?
Blackburn are still hoping to bring in a right winger and central defender before deadline day on September 1.
Loan options are still available for the Blue and Whites, but permanent signings would be crucial to the club’s growth.
If Rovers can sign players to potentially sell on for a profit, it could help the club’s financial issues off the pitch.
