Borussia Monchengladbach news: Stefan Lainar departs as several Bundesliga stars linked with moves away
Borussia Monchengladbach will need major recruitment with several of their key players rumoured to possibly leave the Bundesliga side.
Following Stefan Lainer’s departure from the club, both Florian Neuhaus and Tim Kleindienst have been linked with moves away from Borussia Park.
Gerardo Seoane will need to make several additions to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season.
Players such as Milot Rashica, Igor Matanovic and Andi Zeqiri are all names floating around Monchengladbach.
Stefan Lainer joins RB Salzburg
Stefan Lainer has rejoined RB Salzburg.
Austrian full-back Lainer has moved away from Borussia Monchengladbach after six years of service at the club.
The 32-year-old has left the German outfit on a free deal to join Austrian side RB Salzburg.
After 163 appearances for Die Fohlen, the right-back has returned to the side he left in 2019 for £10million.
Gladbach have Joe Scally, who can replace him in the starting lineup, but a backup would need to be brought in.
Florian Neuhaus linked with Dusseldorf
Another long-serving Borussia Monchengladbach player looks to be returning to a former side.
Neuhaus signed for the Bundesliga outfit on a free deal from 1816 Munich in 2017 - the same summer he joined Fortuna Dusseldorf on loan for the season.
Since then, the 28-year-old has been amongst the Gladbach first team for seven years.
Dusseldorf now have Neuhaus on their radar after 220 appearances for Die Fohlen.
Tim Kleindienst rumoured to be moving to Besiktas
Turkish giants Besiktas want to sign Tim Kleindienst.
Kleindienst lit up the Bundesliga this season with Gladbach, finding the net 16 times in 33 appearances.
The German striker joined the club last summer from Heidenheim for £6million and delivered 26 goal contributions in his first season.
Now Turkish side Besiktas are keen on him.
After finishing fourth in the Super Lig last season, it is clear they need someone to score lots of goals to move them back into the battle with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
Kleindienst would cost Besiktas just over £15million, which may discourage the Turkish outfit from the transfer.
Who could replace Tim Kleindienst?
Currently, Igor Matanovic and Andi Zeqiri are on Gladbach’s list.
Mantanovic has Bundesliga experience, playing 16 times for Eintracht Frankfurt last season.
Despite only scoring once, the 22-year-old was kept as a backup, so could search for first-team football this summer.
Zeqiri has played all over Europe, despite being 25.
Since signing for Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020, he was loaned out to many clubs before making a permanent move to KRC Genk in 2023.
The Swiss forward spent last season out on loan at Standard Liege in Belgium, scoring ten times in 28 games.
Milot Rashica linked to Borussia Monchengladbach
Besiktas star Milot Rashica could be heading to Borussia Park this summer.
There are lots of rumours in the air surrounding signings for Monchengladbach, and Besiktas’ Milot Rashica is one of those linked with the club.
The Kosovan attacker has three years of Bundesliga experience with Werder Bremen but moved to Turkey from Norwich in 2023.
Over his time with Besiktas, the 28-year-old has made 82 appearances, with 29 goal contributions, over two seasons.
The attacker is quick and versatile, which would make him a perfect fit for Seoane’s side.
