Chelsea still aim to sign Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho as transfer deadline nears

Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain as Chelsea continue talks over a deal for the winger.

The 21-year-old has been training away from the main squad after being told by Ruben Amorim that he is not in his plans for the new season.

Transfer fee cause for delay

Chelsea have stepped up their interest, with personal terms already agreed, but the two clubs are still negotiating over the fee.

United are holding out for around £50 million. Chelsea, meanwhile, are pushing for a lower figure and may return with a bid closer to £30m.

Reports suggest United could soften their stance, given Garnacho’s situation and the need to balance their books under financial rules.

Another dilemma

One complication surrounds Garnacho’s squad number. He currently wears No. 17 at Old Trafford, but that shirt already belongs to Andrey Santos at Stamford Bridge.

United even explored the idea of Santos being included in negotiations, but Chelsea quickly rejected the suggestion.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with Garnacho, though it is understood the player’s preference is to move to Chelsea.

Talks are ongoing as the transfer deadline approaches, with both clubs under pressure to resolve the situation quickly.
