Everton news: Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish named Premier League Player of the Month

Everton midfielder Jack Grealish has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for August.

The 30-year-old has revived his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after a summer switch to Merseyside.

Grealish joined the Toffees on a season-long loan from Manchester City after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.

Magic on Merseyside

With three games under their belt, Everton are flying under David Moyes in the Premier League.

The Merseysiders are perched fifth in the table, after wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Those results are, in large part, thanks to Grealish.

The England international has been a standout performer for the Toffees, with four assists in three matches.

It certainly seems as though Grealish is back at his creative best on Merseyside.

With a 46.2% dribble success rate and 61.1 touches per 90, Everton have pumped their attacking output through the midfielder.

While impressive going forward, Grealish has been equally as effective in defence, too.

The Englishman has managed 16 recoveries, two interceptions and won 58.8% of his duels – not bad for an attacking player.

It is great to see Grealish given the freedom to show exactly what he can do, after several stagnant years at the Etihad Stadium.

David Moyes full of praise

After being appointed Everton boss for the second time in January, Moyes has certainly been the architect of the Toffees’ success so far this season.

That being said, the Scotsman accredited the Merseysiders’ turnaround to the arrival of Grealish this summer.

“I’m really pleased for him [Grealish],” Moyes said to the media.

“You’d have to say it’s a big privilege to be given that accolade, and I’m pleased for him because everybody knows he’s back again.

“It’s nothing down to me, it’s down to Jack Grealish, he’s looked after himself and worked incredibly hard.

“He’s come back with the right mindset to produce, and he has produced for us. He’s made a big difference, it’s just the start for Jack.”

If Grealish can continue his hot start to the campaign, Everton could well register a top-half finish for the first time since 2021 under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Englishman will be eyeing a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions squad for the upcoming World Cup next summer.
