Premier League analysis: Who could make their debuts this weekend? Alexander Isak, Xavi Simons and more

The Premier League is almost back after an action-packed international break.

With the return of club football comes the opportunity to see some long-awaited new faces in their fresh colours.

But who could make their debut this weekend?

Here, Transfer News Blitz’s Louie Rudge Ferro has taken a look.

Alexander Isak

Burnley vs Liverpool

Alexander Isak is finally set to make his Liverpool debut this weekend as the Reds take on Burnley at Turf Moor.

The £130 million man played in Sweden’s 2-0 defeat in the World Cup Qualifiers against Kosovo earlier this week.

Arne Slot’s new centre piece will be hoping for a little more luck on Sunday.

Isak scored 62 goals in three seasons for Newcastle United before his long and drawn-out transfer battle this summer.

All eyes will be on the forward, who fetched the highest transfer fee in British history, surpassing Florian Wirtz’s move to Merseyside earlier in the window.

Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa

Newcastle United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Speaking of Eddie Howe’s men, scrutiny will also be applied to Isak’s replacements, Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade.

Wissa, similarly to the Swede, had a public transfer saga, pushing for his Brentford exit all summer before a last-second £55 million move to the North East.

The DR Congo international spent four years in London playing under Thomas Frank, scoring 49 goals for the Bees.

The 29-year-old was part of Brentford’s ruthless strike partnership with now Manchester United forward, Bryan Mbeumo.

Newcastle will hope Wissa gels nicely with Woltemade to recreate the duo’s dynasty in West London.

Woltemade joined from VfB Stuttgart for a fee of £80 million, with the German scoring 17 goals in the Bundesliga last season.

Initially, it looked like the six-foot-six-inch striker would be going to Bayern Munich, but you would imagine the large amount of money thrown at the deal by the Toon would have swayed his decision.

Piero Hincapie

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest

Arsenal return from international duty at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Piero Hincapie joined the Gunners on loan with an obligation to buy for £45 million on deadline day.

The Ecuadorian has spent the last four years at Bayer Leverkusen and was part of the invincible Bundesliga-winning side under Xabi Alonso.

The 23-year-old can play across the backline, but is more comfortable on the left side, either at centre-back or left-back.

With William Saliba set to miss out, the defender could well make his debut at the Emirates Stadium, and will be hoping to keep a clean sheet against Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Xavi Simons

West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Moving across North London, Tottenham Hotspur face off against London rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Xavi Simons is set to make his Spurs debut following his £55 million move from RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old scored 11 goals in all competitions last year and will be hoping to replicate that form in N17 this season.

The Dutchman can play either through the centre of midfield or on the left wing, where he is expected to play in the long term.

Simons is definitely a signing that will get seats flapping when he makes his home debut.
