FPL tips: Who should you transfer in and out ahead of GW2? Matheus Cunha and Virgil van Dijk included
Fantasy Premier League is back in full flow, with over 11million players taking part this season.
There are some huge fixtures in the Premier League this weekend, as Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur, not an ‘Eze’ fixture for Thomas Frank, while Newcastle United and Liverpool contest the ‘Alexander Isak derby’.
Whether you’re an FPL fiend sweating over xG and defensive contributions, or someone likely to forget about their team by Christmas, here, Transfer News Blitz’s Edward Moss provides five players you should sell, sign or bench ahead of GW2.
SIGN: Matheus Cunha
MID / £8million / 8.8% Ownership
Despite losing 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford in GW1, Matheus Cunha heavily impressed on his competitive Manchester United debut.
The Red Devils played through the Brazilian, who quite literally ran the show up top for Ruben Amorim.
Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, the 26-year-old terrorised the Gunners' defence, and certainly caused a few ‘heart in your mouth’ moments for the North London faithful.
United face a trip to Fulham in GW2, before hosting fellow Lancashire side, and relegation favourites, Burnley, in GW3.
While matches against Manchester City and Chelsea follow, Cunha could score big points in his next two outings.
Certainly a risky choice to bring in, but one that could pay off.
SELL: Virgil van Dijk
DEF / £6million / 23.7% Ownership
Now, stay with me on this one, get rid of Virgil van Dijk - at least temporarily, anyway.
The Dutchman is largely considered as the best defender in the Premier League, and rightfully so.
However, Liverpool have a tough couple of games coming up, and there are several other defensive options with a more favourable run.
Arne Slot’s men looked wobbly at the back against AFC Bournemouth on the opening weekend, and with a trip to St. James’ Park, where the atmosphere is likely to be hostile up next, the Reds could slip to defeat.
Fellow title contenders Arsenal visit Anfield after that, presenting two horrid games for the Merseysiders.
It could be a poor couple of weeks points-wise for the 34-year-old, so I would sell.
SIGN: Chris Wood
FWD / £7.6million / 18.5% Ownership
Chris Wood started his Premier League campaign with a bang, scoring two goals against Brentford as Nottingham Forest won 3-1.
With Europa League football this season, it is yet to be seen how Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be able to deal with the added workload.
That being said, Forest have a very favourable run in the coming weeks.
With a Europa Conference League tie either side of the weekend, Crystal Palace will be fully focused on progressing in Europe.
Followed by fixtures against West Ham United, Arsenal and newly-promoted duo Burnley and Sunderland, the New Zealander will certainly be in the goals.

BENCH: Mohammed Kudus
MID / £6.5million / 27.5% Ownership
Another one where you need to just trust me - get rid of Mohammed Kudus, only for one week.
With Pep Guardiola’s City on the horizon, who obliterated Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, it is hard to see Spurs come away with anything.
At the Etihad, and likely to be penned in for large portions of the game, you should bench the Ghanaian.
Tottenham have a decent run until mid-October after Man City, where they face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

SIGN: Ismaila Sarr
MID / £6.5million / 4.7% Ownership
This is more of a long-term signing, but bring in Ismaila Sarr.
Crystal Palace are on the up, and with Eberechi Eze set to sign for Arsenal, the Eagles are going to need a new talisman.
The 27-year-old is an exciting talent, and with eight goals and seven assists in the Premier League last term, could well step up to the mark.
Oliver Glasner’s men do have a fairly tricky run of games coming up, but Sarr is still well worth having in your side.
