Man Utd news: Who will be Manchester United’s starting goalkeeper? Andre Onana set to depart following Senne Lammens deal

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to depart Old Trafford on loan.

The Red Devils have had an underwhelming start in the Premier League, dropping points to Arsenal and Fulham, prompting boss Ruben Amorim to take action.

United had explored a Deadline Day deal for Aston Villa shot stopper Emiliano Martinez, but ultimately opted to bring in Belgian youngster Senne Lammens.

Following the move, Onana is on the way out of Carrington.

Andre Onana to leave Manchester United

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Cameroonian will reportedly join Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.

Onana will sign for the Turkish outfit on a straight loan, with no buy option or fee included in the deal.

The 29-year-old will be in line for plenty of first-team action over in Turkey, with Trabzonspor in need of a senior goalkeeper.

Ugurcan Cakir, who was the club’s first-choice shot stopper, recently joined rivals Galatasaray for €27.5million.

Manchester United need someone to step up

As Onana heads for the door and with Altay Bayindir less than convincing this season, the Red Devils need somebody to step up between the sticks.

While Lammens is certainly an exciting prospect, the Belgian youngster’s lack of experience could work against him.

That being said, it took David de Gea a couple of seasons to really kick on at Old Trafford, and we all know how valuable he proved to be for Manchester United.

It seems likely that Amorim will give Lammens the nod in goal, with Bayindir already shipping four goals in three Premier League matches.

If the 23-year-old is thrown into the deep end, it will be interesting to see whether he will sink or swim.
