Middlesbrough news: Several Premier League sides keen on Hayden Hackney - Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur linked

Midfielder Hayden Hackney has been a standout performer for Middlesbrough in the Championship this season.

The 23-year-old’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League sides reportedly keen.

Boro have been flying under new boss Rob Edwards, sitting two points clear at the top of the Championship table.

Alongside Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, Middlesbrough are one of only two sides yet to lose in the second tier.

Hayden Hackney on fire

Having come through the academy at Middlesbrough, Hackney has firmly established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet at the Riverside.

The midfielder has started every league game under Edwards this season, partnered by American Aidan Morris.

Hackney has proved to be a workhorse in the middle of the park, winning 36 duels and making 43 recoveries so far this term.

Not to forget the Englishman’s impressive creative output, having generated three goal contributions in the Championship.

Premier League interest

According to TEAMtalk, several Premier League clubs have taken note of Hackney’s top form.

Fulham, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all understood to be interested in the Boro midfielder.

However, it is believed that Ruben Amorim’s United and Thomas Frank’s Spurs are leading the race for Hackney’s signature.

That being said, if Middlesbrough stay on course and win promotion to the Premier League, Hackney would surely relish the chance to play for his boyhood club at the top level.
