Real Madrid news: Rodrygo to meet with Xabi Alonso to decide future amid Arsenal and Liverpool interest

Brazilian star Rodrygo is set for showdown talks with Real Madrid over his future in the Spanish capital.

Xabi Alonso’s side crashed out of the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals at the hands of French outfit Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Fabian Ruiz bagged a brace as Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos rounded off a 4-0 thrashing for the Champions League holders.

Now, Los Blancos could be on the verge of losing one of their hottest talents.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a meeting between Rodrygo and Real Madrid has been scheduled to take place next week.

Real will leave the final decision to the Brazilian and are open to his departure from the Santiago Bernabéu.

The 24-year-old only made one start for the Spaniards at the FIFA Club World Cup and is reportedly exploring his options.

Where could Rodrygo go?

With speculation rife, Rodrygo has been linked with clubs around the globe.

However, the forward is understood to have ruled out a move to Al-Nassr or any Saudi Pro League club, and is keen to remain in Europe, as per Romano.

Premier League side Arsenal are said to be interested in Rodrygo as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attack.

However, the Gunners are also reportedly close to a deal for Chelsea wideman Noni Madueke, which would likely cool their interest if completed.

Although the North Londoners could shift their focus to the Brazilian if he asks to leave Madrid this summer.

Fellow English side Liverpool are also long-standing admirers of Rodrygo, but have already spent close to £180million ahead of next season.

How good is Rodrygo?

With 25 goal involvements in all competitions last term, the Brazil international enjoyed a decent campaign for Real.

Versatile, Rodrygo can play on either flank or through the middle, which would be a huge asset to any prospective buyer.

An excellent dribbler, Rodrygo had an impressive 51.6% dribble success in the Spanish top flight last season.

It is not just offensively that the winger can put in a shift, but also defensively, having made 71 recoveries and won 114 duels in LaLiga last term.

Often overshadowed by the star-studded Real Madrid squad, which includes Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., a move away could do Rodrygo a world of good.
