Tottenham news: Who will Eberechi Eze join? Thomas Frank closes in on England international
Tottenham Hotspur are advancing in their pursuit of Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze.
Thomas Frank’s men started their Premier League campaign off with a bang, as they dismantled newly-promoted Burnley 3-0 in North London.
Richarlison and Brennan Johnson were both on the scoresheet, as Mohammed Kudus impressed on his first outing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fellow new signing Joao Palhinha, who signed on loan from FC Bayern, also made a short cameo off the bench to make his Premier League debut for the club.
Spurs face a tough trip to Manchester City on Saturday, as both clubs look to maintain their perfect start to the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side steamrolled Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at Molineux on the opening weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur close to Eberechi Eze deal
The North Londoners are understood to be long-standing admirers of Eze and are set to step up their chase of the midfielder.
According to Florian Plettenberg, advanced talks between Tottenham and Palace are now ongoing regarding the England international.
All parties are reportedly optimistic about completing a deal, which could be worth up to £70million, before Deadline Day on Monday, September 1.
The 27-year-old is thought to be keen on signing for Spurs and is waiting for the green light to undergo a medical in North London.

Other interest
While it appears that Tottenham Hotspur are set to win the race for Eze, the Englishman has been subject to plenty of interest from elsewhere.
Premier League arch-rivals Arsenal were thought to be considering a deal for the Crystal Palace star earlier this summer.
However, any move reportedly hinged on youngster Ethan Nwaneri’s future, who recently put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were also reported to be keen, but the Bavarians’ interest was never concrete.
Vincent Kompany’s side have already signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool and Tom Biscoff from fellow German side Hoffenheim, who both operate in similar positions to Eze.

Eberechi Eze makes a strong start
With the Premier League back in full flow, Crystal Palace started their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
The Eagles put in an impenetrable defensive display at Stamford Bridge and looked much the better side.
Olive Glasner’s men even took the lead, through no other than Eze, who converted a short free-kick from just outside of the penalty area.
However, the midfielder’s goal was ruled out as defender Marc Guehi was adjudged to be less than one metre away from the wall as the shot was taken.
Eze looked bright, with a 67% dribble success rate and four duels won against Enzo Maresca’s Blues, and left the pitch to rapturous applause from the Palace faithful after 84 minutes of action.
With Nottingham Forest up next for Crystal Palace, could Eze make his last appearance at Selhurst Park this weekend?
