Bayern Munich news: Vincent Kompany to focus on Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku after Alejandro Garnacho deal off
Following Kingsley Coman’s exit to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, Vincent Kompany is on the search for a replacement.
After losing Leroy Sane earlier this summer, FC Bayern have only managed to bring in Luis Diaz from Liverpool as a replacement.
Now losing another forward, and with Jamal Musiala out injured, the Bavarians need to bolster their ranks to help before the start of the Bundesliga season.
Bayern will host RB Leipzig on the Bundesliga opening day on Friday, August 22.
Alejandro Garnacho bid rejected
Recent reports confirm that the German giants had placed a bid for unwanted Manchester United star, Alejandro Garnacho, which was turned down.
The Argentine is understood to be keen on a move to West London to join Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea.
It is clear that the 21-year-old’s time at Old Trafford is up, having been left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad for their opening day defeat to Arsenal.
Following his breakthrough season in 2022, Garnacho has gone on to play 144 times for the Red Devils, gathering 48 goal contributions.
Who are FC Bayern looking at now?
Bayern are thought to be keen on a player who lit up the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig a few years ago, before his big move to Chelsea.
Now, Christopher Nkunku could be on his way back to Germany, but for Munich, not Leipzig.
The Frenchman has had an underwhelming spell in West London, following his £60million switch in 2023.
Whilst struggling for fitness and minutes, Nkunku has turned out only 62 times for the Blues, grabbing 18 goals and five assists.
The 27-year-old has shown his talent and versatility in the Premier League, having been deployed out wide, through the middle and in midfield.
That versatility may well have caught the eye of Kompany, as Bayern need a forward who can play across the front line.
Nukunku would be a great fit for Bayern to fill in where needed, especially when looking at their notable absences.
With the Bundesliga season just around the corner, Kompany needs to get his squad sorted to avoid a bad start to the season.
