Blackburn Rovers news: Cody Drameh and Max Alleyne still on Rovers’ radar ahead of EFL Championship season

Valerian Ismael could still bring in a few more players as Blackburn Rovers look to bring in more reinforcements ahead of the start of the Championship season.

The Lancashire side are understood to be keen on three players before their opening fixture against West Bromwich Albion on August 9.

Here, Transfer News Blitz writer Thomas Robinson has looked at who else could come through the door at Ewood Park.

Could Cody Drameh replace Callum Brittain?

Callum Brittain’s exit has loomed for quite a while, with Derby County and Middlesbrough the favourites to sign the wing-back.

With that in mind, Blackburn have kept Cody Drameh on their radar as a ‘just-in-case’ option.

Former Arsenal youngster Ryan Alebiosu has already joined the club this summer, and Kristi Montgomery and Leo Duru are available as cover, but Drameh might be the quality Rovers are after.

However, Crystal Palace are reportedly keeping tabs on the full-back, as well as several Championship clubs.

Valued at £3million, the 23-year-old would be a costly replacement for Brittain and not necessarily be a like-for-like signing.

While Alebiosu can play at wing-back with his power and speed to get up and down the pitch, Drameh would offer a much more defensive option.

The current Hull City man would be a good signing for Ismael, but may force the Frenchman to change his play style.

Can Blackburn Rovers bring in Max Alleyne on loan from Manchester City?

Blackburn are reportedly in the race for Manchester City youngster Max Alleyne, alongside fellow Championship sides Sheffield United and Watford.

The 20-year-old is thought to be after regular first-team football in a bid to impress Pep Guardiola.

The centre-back would likely sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium before heading out on loan.

Rovers have lots of depth in central defence, with Dominic Hyam, Scott Wharton, Hayden Carter and Sean McLoughlin, so game time would not be a guarantee.

However, Ismael is known for having strong squad depth and would prefer options in case of another injury crisis, like the one that crippled Blackburn last season.

Alleyne would be good to have at the club, especially as an alternate option at centre-back.

Nectar Triantis linked with Blackburn Rovers

Nectar Triantis in action for Hibernian last term.

Nectar Triantis was touted as a potential loan signing earlier in the summer when Lewis Travis was rumoured with a move away.

Since then, rumours around both had died down, but seem to be gaining some traction once again.

Derby County are once again in the race for the Blackburn captain, as John Eustace attempts to bring the 27-year-old to Derbyshire.

Now, Triantis could be back on Rovers’ radar.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan in Scotland with Hibernian, but has been told by the Black Cats he will not play any first-team football this season.

With the door on a move wide open, Blackburn should sneak in to grab the Australian on the cheap.
