Man City news: Savinho closes in on new Manchester City deal as Pep Guardiola heaps praise on Brazilian
Manchester City forward Savinho is set to put pen to paper on a fresh contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.
The Brazilian has been limited to just five appearances in all competitions this term, having recently recovered from a thigh injury.
Positioned seventh in the Premier League table, the Cityzens have not got off to as good a start as they would have hoped this season.
That being said, following the signing of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain, Pep Guardiola’s side remains unbeaten.
Since the Italian’s arrival, City have recorded wins over Burnley and Manchester United, as well as a hard-fought draw against Arsenal.

Savinho to sign new deal
The good news is set to continue at the Etihad Stadium, with winger Savinho closing in on a new deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian will sign a contract valid until 2031 with the Cityzens.
At one point this summer, it looked as though 21-year-old would swap Manchester for North London.
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur reportedly bid twice for Savinho’s services, but were rebuffed by Manchester City.
The Brazil international impressed in his maiden Premier League campaign last term, bagging one goal and 10 assists.

Pep Guardiola full of praise
Despite some uncertainty surrounding Savinho’s future, Man City boss Guardiola is a huge fan of the forward.
The Spaniard said: “We were so clear we wanted to keep him [Savinho].
“At his age, last season he played a lot, can play on both sides, has pace that is unbelievable,” he continued.
“He’s very good.”
Savinho looks set to play a very big role in Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad Stadium, by the sounds of things.
