Liverpool news: Who could Arne Slot turn to after Giovanni Leoni injury?
Liverpool are keen to bring in another central defender after Giovanni Leoni was stretchered off the pitch against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
The 18-year-old had impressed on his Reds debut before suffering a reported cruciate ligament tear in the 81st minute.
Arne Slot is yet to give a concrete timeframe on the Italian’s recovery time, but he will likely be sidelined for several months.
With only Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk available, Liverpool are now notably low on reinforcements in central defence.
The Merseysiders face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park next in the Premier League, before another tough trip to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Liverpool to go back for Marc Guehi
Following Leoni’s injury, Liverpool are understood to be readying a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi in January, according to TBR Football.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of sealing a switch to Anfield on Deadline Day, only for the deal to collapse.
The Reds were set to wait until the end of the season to sign Guehi on a free transfer, however, they could now be forced to move early in January.
As per Sky Sports, Palace are thought to have accepted that the England international’s time is up in South London.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner had reportedly told the club he would walk if Guehi was sold in the summer.
The Austrian has just nine months left on his current deal at Crystal Palace, and it would be no surprise to see him leave at the end of his contract if Guehi is sold.

Could Marc Guehi be the difference in the Premier League title race?
Guehi has long been overdue for a big move after an impressive four-year stint at Selhurst Park.
In that time, the defender has captained Palace to an FA Cup, their first ever major trophy, and the Community Shield, as well as firmly establishing himself as one of England’s best centre-backs.
With Liverpool fans less than impressed by Konate, who himself only has nine months left on his contract, Guehi would likely walk into Slot’s setup.
The Englishman would be a worthy partner to van Dijk and certainly shore up the Merseysiders’ backline.
While the Reds had spent big in the summer on the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, it felt as though a central defender was the last piece to the puzzle.
