Premier League analysis: Four players to watch ahead of Deadline Day - Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson included
There have been some huge deals so far this summer, as several Premier League teams have spent big.
Liverpool have been busy, with the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong all making their way to Anfield, with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak also on their radar.
Similarly, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have spent big, with Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres their biggest additions.
With only a few days left until the transfer window draws to a close, there is still plenty of time for more business to be completed.
Here, Transfer News Blitz’s Louie Rudge-Ferro has looked at four moves that could go right down to the wire, ahead of Deadline Day on Monday, September 1.
Alejandro Garnacho, Manchester United
Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea is understood to be just a matter of time.
The Argentine fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim at the end of last season before being benched for the Europa League final.
The 21-year-old did not take part in United’s pre-season tour, and has reportedly agreed personal terms with Enzo Maresca’s Blues.
Chelsea are set to pay around £50million, with the move expected to conclude before Deadline Day.
I can’t see a way that this doesn’t happen, especially given the way Garnacho’s relationship has broken down with Amorim.
You’ve also got to say that the Argentina international will be a big miss for United, who has the potential to be one of the best in Europe, while being sold to a rival.

Antony, Manchester United
Another Red Devils winger that will likely leave before the end of Deadline Day will be Antony.
The Brazilian optimises the mistakes made under former boss Erik ten Hag, as Manchester United splashed £82 million on Antony in 2022.
The 25-year-old has managed just five Premier League goals during his time at United.
Despite this, Antony enjoyed a successful loan spell at LaLiga outfit Real Betis during the latter part of last season, reaching the UEFA Conference League final.
The Spanish club are hoping to gain his signature for the upcoming season, with both loan and permanent options being explored.
I would think, given the monstrous fee paid by United for Antony, that a permanent move would require significant compensation.
However, I expect the Brazilian to make the switch, more likely on a temporary basis, as he will not play at Old Trafford this season.

Xavi Simons, RB Leipzig
Another name that has seemingly been mentioned all summer is that of RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons.
The Dutchman signed permanently from Paris Saint-Germain last winter for just over £40million, after being on loan in Germany for two seasons.
The 22-year-old scored 11 goals in all competitions and registered eight assists last term, but his all-around play is what has caught the top club’s eyes.
Chelsea are definite front-runners for the Dutch international, and it has seemed all summer long that his destination will be West London.
But time is running out for a move to materialise, with the Blues also reportedly interested in Barcelona talent Fermin Lopez.
Other top clubs are sure to be interested, but I would be surprised to see Simons in the white and red of Leipzig next season.

Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea
Someone who will surely be moving away from West London is Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
The Senegalese striker was signed from Villarreal for £32million in 2023.
The 24-year-old has always put up decent numbers for the Blues, scoring 17 goals in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
But we know Chelsea owner Todd Boehly’s obsession with having the best of the best, and Jackson’s finishing sometimes leaves more to be desired, with 19 big chances missed last season.
With the signings of both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, Jackson finds himself out of favour under Maresca.
Chelsea initially wanted a permanent move for the player, but are understood to now be willing to accept a loan with around a £10million fee.
Bayern Munich are front-runners to sign the player as a backup to England captain Harry Kane.
Considering that Jackson is unlikely to play, and given his quality up top, I’m certain that he will find a club, likely on a loan basis if that option is there.
