Tottenham news: Spurs hold talks to sign Antoine Semenyo but face Premier League competition

Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with AFC Bournemouth over the signing of Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian was one of the Premier League’s surprise performers throughout last season, contributing 11 goals and five assists to the ninth-placed side.

Semenyo notably set up a goal against title contenders Arsenal in May, as well as bagging a brace against already-relegated Leicester City on the final day.

Following an impressive campaign, the 25-year-old has caught the eye of several top clubs, who are keen to test Bournemouth’s resolve.

Premier League interest

Semenyo has attracted the attention of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are working on a deal to bring in Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford.

On the other hand, Liverpool are on the verge of signing Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, having already bought in Jeremie Frimpong.

Clearly looking to take the next step in his career, Semenyo is set on playing Champions League football next season, and while the Reds can provide that, it would be at Spurs where he would play a bigger role.

Tottenham Hotspur favourites for Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo has been on fire for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

With the shock news that Spurs have sacked Ange Postecoglou starting to settle down and Thomas Frank seemingly North London bound, it would provide the perfect opportunity for Antoine Semenyo to progress his career at the top level.

The Cherries are understood to have set a £70million price tag for the forward, as per talkSPORT.

Son Heung-Min has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, and with uncertainty clouding several other players at the club, the Ghanaian international would likely walk straight into the starting lineup in August.

With Champions League football firmly on the table at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Manchester United are seemingly behind in the race.

Liverpool are circling overhead should an opportunity rear its head, but a move to Spurs looks more and more likely for Semenyo.
