Blackburn Rovers news: Moussa Baradji moves to Ewood Park as Lewis Travis exit draws nearer

After a long wait, Moussa Baradji is finally a Blackburn Rovers player.

The French midfielder completed a move to Lancashire on a season-long loan, with an option to buy.

The 24-year-old has been brought in from Swiss second division side Yverdon Sport, only a matter of weeks after signing a two-year extension with the club.

Following his arrival at Ewood Park, Baradji expressed his excitement at joining the club.

He said: “I’m very excited to be at Rovers.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve always dreamed of joining a club in England.

“With the history of Blackburn, I knew the club in France, and when I had discussions about the project, they explained to me about the environment.

“I wanted to join a family environment club, and that's what I've got at Blackburn.”

How could Valerien Ismael utilise Moussa Baradji?

Valued at around £2million, Rovers have utilised the loan market to bring in Baradji as a clear midfield option.

Valerien Isamel complained a lot last season about Blackburn’s squad depth after he joined midway through the season, and it looks like that issue is now getting addressed.

With captain Lewis Travis unhappy at the club and keen to leave, and John Buckley labelled as unwanted, it is clear that more midfield options were needed.

Baradji may be used in a deep midfield role to try and push the team forward in attacking situations.

This ability could also see the Frenchman slot in behind the striker if Todd Cantwell is unavailable.

With fellow new signings Axel Henriksson and Sidnei Tavares ready to shine, there will be plenty of competition in Blackburn’s midfield.

Not to forget the likes of experienced heads Adam Forshaw and Sondre Tronstad.

Lewis Traivis set to leave

It is clear that John Eustace misses the squad he had at Blackburn Rovers last season, and is looking to reunite with several first-team stars at Derby County.

Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann have already signed for the Rams earlier this summer.

The Derby boss was also thought to be keen on Tyrhys Dolan, who ended up in LaLiga with Espanyol, before completing the signings of Owen Beck and Dion Sanderson on loan.

Now it seems as though Travis could be heading to Pride Park.

It is understood that Derby are finalising an offer for the midfielder, in a deal that could rise to well over £3million and with a sell-on clause.

Rovers are therefore prioritising midfield options to fill in the hole Travis will leave, while Cantwell has been given the armband.
